Job Description

Best Western Design conducts compliance reviews based on branded design guidelines and Best Western’s Rules & Regulations. As an in-house Architect, you will provide support for the membership, conditional applicants and conversion properties by providing project design review services. Plan reviews, ideas, and suggestions that will provide direction for new construction and conversions. And/or acting as first point of contact with owners/members needing assistance with design guidelines and initiatives.

Essential Job Results

Promotes compliance with Company and professional design standards by providing members, conditional applicants and conversion properties, With plan reviews that are a functional analysis of the spaces and will assist with brand insight
Will work with the Owner, architect and general contractor to ensure the process is seamless from beginning to end
Meets Company and professional design requirements by reviewing member, conditional applicant and conversion properties submittals and plans. (New construction or refurbishments).  Will visit properties under construction, communicates required upgrades and writes status reports. Reviews property reports, photos and plans to assess properties and correct design or compliance deficiencies based on the Company Design Guidelines.
 Contributes to team effort by providing advice and technical direction to less experienced designers.
Leads and monitors projects to ensure quality, workmanship standards and compliance design objectives are met. Lead design initiatives to recommend and implement new systems, processes or procedures.
May provide transition support by working with new and probational clients. Makes recommendations on member matters.
Maintains quality service by following Company standards.
 

Skills/Requirements

Minimum 6 years related experience in architecture and construction management and supervision for commercial, industrial or institutional facilities.
Hotel industry experience preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. May require advanced
              proficiency in a specific application.

Strong sketching and drafting skills. Advanced proficiency in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) preferred. knowledge of Autodesk Sketchbook Designer and Adobe Photoshop.
Customer focused with good presentation skills. Ability to diplomatically communicate deficiencies and required changes.
AIA  certification preferred.
Previous project leadership experience preferred.
