The Senior Manager of Accounting provides strategic and operational leadership for the global accounts receivable (“AR”) function, ensuring efficient day-to-day and monthly management of billing, collections, and customer account resolution. Champions timely cash flow through accurate invoicing, proactive collections, and effective issue resolution. Collaborates cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to optimize processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and support organizational financial goals. Drives continuous improvement through system enhancements, streamlined workflows, and cost-effective practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Daily and Monthly AR Global Operations: Oversee all aspects of AR, including billing, collections, cash application, and payment plans, ensuring timely and accurate processing across all functions.
- Process Improvement & Automation: Identify, develop, and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the AR function. Leverage automation tools where applicable.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present comprehensive AR reports to senior leadership, offering insights into receivables performance, aging trends, and risk exposure. Maintain and update monthly AR aging analysis and performance dashboards.
- Contract Compliance & Billing Accuracy: Conduct detailed reviews of contracts and amendments to ensure billing configurations align with negotiated terms and conditions, minimizing discrepancies.
- Collections Oversight: Lead the collections process to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances while maintaining positive customer relationships and resolving disputes effectively.
- Policy Compliance & Audit Readiness: Ensure adherence to internal policies, GAAP standards, and legal requirements. Maintain strong internal controls and provide audit support as needed.
- Documentation & SOP Management: Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for all AR processes. Continuously evaluate opportunities for automation and operational improvement.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AR professionals by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and aligning team objectives with broader company goals.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
- Eight + years supervisory experience.
- Oversee a team of seven employees.
- Manages people and has authority over hiring/firing/performance decisions.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 8 years of progressive, related accounting experience including supervisory or management experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Workday experience is a plus, but not required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of financial/budgeting acumen.
- Knowledge of company and industry standards.
- Familiarity with industry and organizational standards.
- Excellent leadership and team development capabilities.
- Excellent written, communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills with external vendors.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and advise small to medium teams.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify critical issues and develop thoughtful, strategic solutions to complex or ambiguous challenges.
Work Schedule
- This is a hybrid position, requiring an onsite presence approximately three (3) days per week at our Headquarters location (6201 N 24th Parkway | Phoenix | AZ | 85016).
- Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm (Arizona Time).
